Hi there,
Welcome back to the Rework newsletter.
You know that feeling when you meet someone who just gets it? That's how I felt when I first started working with Claude. ChatGPT might be the popular kid everyone's talking about, but Claude is now my go-to for deeper, more nuanced work. This week will kick off a series of newsletters revolving around Claude and how it can completely change the way you work— and I’m not exaggerating.
Meet Claude: The assistant that gets it
If you're familiar with ChatGPT, you'll feel right at home with Claude. It's a chat-based AI assistant that can help with writing, analysis, coding, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Like ChatGPT Plus, Claude's premium features (Claude Pro) cost $20/month. But even the free version is incredibly powerful and worth adding to your toolkit.
Check out my 3-minute video tutorial on the basic features of Claude:
An Important Consideration
Data privacy is a hot topic with AI. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, takes a pretty clear stance on this. Unlike some companies, Claude doesn't use your data to train its models unless you explicitly opt in.
A Comparison: ChatGPT vs Claude
I’m going to show you a quick example of the differences in writing style between Claude and ChatGPT. In my opinion, Claude understands the nuances of writing to various audiences and basically— just sounds less like AI.
Without any other context or instruction, I asked both models to write a 100-word LinkedIn post about an influential figure in AI and education.
ChatGPT’s response:

Claude’s response:

I’ll leave you to form your own opinion, but if you have only ever used ChatGPT, I challenge you to spend a few days working with Claude and give it a fair chance.
A quick nod to NotebookLM:
You may or may not know, but NotebookLM is another AI-powered, chat-based tool that allows you to upload your own custom knowledge base and chat with those sources. One killer feature is that it will actually generate a podcast for you based on the sources you provide.
I have given NotebookLM this newsletter’s content and generated a podcast for you auditory learners out there. Keep in mind, this is completely generated by NotebookLM with no oversight or instruction from me, so give it a listen— but just for fun!
Next week, we’ll talk more about two powerhouse tools that I use every day to improve the quality of my work and get work done faster: custom GPTs and Claude’s equivalent— projects. I’ll show you the GPTs and projects that I have set up for my own business and show you how to set them up for yours.
Quick poll: how did these topics land for you?
