Hey there,
Welcome to the very first edition of Rework: Disrupting the Daily Grind. I’m glad you’re here.
Ever feel like your workdays blend into each other, filled with tasks that leave you exhausted but not truly accomplished? A few years ago, I found myself in that place—trapped in the churn of everyday tasks, each day bleeding into the next. The routine was comforting, sure, but it became a cage. I was staying busy but not fulfilled, too caught up in the cycle to step back and ask what I really wanted my work—and my life—to look like.
Then in 2022, I gave birth to my first child. People often say motherhood slows you down, but for me, it sharpened my focus. The late nights and endless tasks made me see clearly what really mattered. I realized I couldn’t keep wasting time on work that drained my energy but didn’t move the needle. My tolerance for inefficiency was quite low.
That’s when I made a decision. I dedicated myself to learning—really learning, for hundreds of hours—how to automate the repetitive tasks that filled my days. How to leverage new tools that seemed out of reach in my non-technical role. How to create something better. It wasn’t easy—long nights, early mornings, plenty of mistakes, and I stepped on a lot of toes. But through it all, I discovered a new way to work—one that wasn’t defined by how many hours I put in, but by the space I created for what truly mattered.
I imagine you— whoever YOU are—also yearn for more time and energy for the things that truly matter. And I found that through automation. Now, my goal is to show you how you can do the same—how to reclaim your time, focus on what you love, and let technology handle the rest. But you can skip the hundreds of hours of learning and get right to the good stuff.
The future of work isn’t some distant horizon; it’s already here. It’s in the algorithms that can schedule our meetings, the software that drafts our reports, the countless innovations that can free us from the grind. But the hardest part? Letting go of the belief that productivity means always doing, always hustling. The real challenge is embracing a new kind of freedom—the freedom to design our days around what’s meaningful, not just what’s urgent.
I know it’s not always easy. Change never is. But maybe it’s time to stop settling for the way things have always been and start imagining how they could be. To ask ourselves if we’re ready to step into this new world, or if we’ll hold tight to routines that no longer serve us.
And that’s where this newsletter comes in. My goal with Rework is simple: to give you tangible actions you can take to change the way you work. Each edition will offer practical steps to help you harness the power of technology, optimize your routines, and design a workday that actually supports the life you want to live. We’ll dive into tools that automate everything from email follow-ups to content generation, so you can focus on what truly matters. Think of it as a blueprint for making small, meaningful changes that add up to something transformative.
So, where are you in this journey? Take a moment and think—what part of your daily grind would you automate if you could? What would you do with an extra hour in your day? Hold onto that thought. We’ll come back to it.
If you’re ready to explore new possibilities, this is your sign. Let’s start designing a workday that works for you—one edition at a time. The door is open, and all you have to do is take the first step.
Until next time,
Jamie
