Over coffee this morning, I reviewed yesterday's sales call transcript. ChatGPT told me that I interrupted the prospect three times in the first five minutes and missed two key buying signals. That kind of feedback is hard to hear, but it's invaluable and makes me better every time I receive it. And honestly…feedback is easier to handle when it comes from a robot.
Here’s How I Do This
Watch your sales calls back. If you want to get better at closing deals, this is a non-negotiable. Pay attention to how your prospect responds to you, when their attention fades, and when they are most engaged.
Drop your call transcript into ChatGPT. This is especially powerful if ChatGPT already knows about you and your business. Make sure you let ChatGPT know about your goals for the conversation. Were you closing a deal? Were you introducing yourself and your services? This is important.
I ask ChatGPT specific questions: "How well did I identify pain points?" or "What objections did I miss?" Make sure that your questions are open-ended and that you specify that you are looking for objective feedback. (Because ChatGPT naturally just wants to make you happy— yikes!)
Important: Turn off data sharing in ChatGPT before uploading any transcripts. Go to Settings > Data Controls > Toggle off "Chat history & training.
If you want a really killer prompt for this…
Not every situation requires a detailed prompt but I did put a great sales coach prompt together for you. You can get it here. It will give you the best bang for your buck without going back and forth a dozen times with ChatGPT to get the best feedback.
If you try this, send me an email and tell me how it went. Did it surprise you? Was it soft enough in it’s delivery? Do you trust its feedback? I want to know!
Human, as always,
Jamie
